PUBERES

Puberes are children who have reached puberty, regardless of whether they have reached the age of majority. This term comes from Roman law.

For example, in Roman law, a boy who had reached puberty (usually around age 14) was considered a puber and could inherit property or be held responsible for crimes. Similarly, a girl who had started menstruating was also considered a puber and could be married off by her father.

Another example could be a modern-day scenario where a 12-year-old girl has started menstruating. Even though she is not yet 18, she would be considered a puber and may be able to make certain decisions about her own health care.

The examples illustrate that puberes are children who have reached a certain level of physical maturity, regardless of their age. In Roman law, this meant that they were given certain rights and responsibilities. In modern times, it may affect how they are treated in terms of medical decisions or legal rights.
